To optimize quality of life through community-based housing and mental health services.

SHIP volunteers are respected and appreciated as essential partners who provide a positive influence in the lives of individuals with mental illness.

There are a wide variety of ways individuals and groups can make a lasting contribution to the SHIP community:

  1. Team up SHIP - for community and corporate groups who wish to contribute time or funds
  2. SHIP KALEIDOSCOPE - a volunteer pool screened and ready for activities/projects on a call-in basis. Students are welcome.

Individuals/groups wishing to be matched with clients looking for companionship and increased opportunities to interact in community activities can participate in a Volunteer Circle, as a Driver, or as a P.A.L. (Peer Assisted Leisure) volunteer.

Share your knowledge and enthusiasm in the areas of computers, photography, gardening, cooking, and walking, or become a Social Recreation Co-Ordinator.

Volunteers who would prefer to work in the areas of administrative or project work can assist with office support, fundraising, and research.

Decorators and do-it-yourselfers are encouraged to assist our clients with home decorating and home repairs. We also appreciate those willing to help with snow removal, lawn maintenance.
