Short Term Residential Crisis Support Beds
The Short Term Residential Crisis Support Beds (Safe Beds) Program is a crisis response initiative in which SHIP combines temporary safe housing with specialized support services.
Safe Beds is specifically designed to respond to the needs of individuals dealing with mental illness who are in crisis and have the potential to, or are already involved in the criminal justice system.
Through the operation of a best practice recovery-based program, Safe Beds meets the needs of clients in crisis:
This SHIP initiative is staffed by a multidisciplinary team with combined experience in the areas of mental health, criminal justice, and addictions/dual diagnosis.
Supportive Housing
A newly-created increased response initiative, Supportive
Housing is specifically tasked to meet the needs of individuals
dealing with mental illness who have had direct/current
involvement with the criminal justice system.
As part of a larger, co-ordinated system of services, this rent
supplement program offers long term housing units and a highly
specialized level of support in Peel Region and West Toronto.
The goal of Supportive Housing is to maximize the potential for a
future without the intervention of the criminal justice and
corrections systems.
