Independent Living Program

SHIP believes housing is fundamental to the mental and physical well-being of an individual and promotes independence and functionality of individuals of our client population.

Concurrent with accepting safe, affordable housing, each client is assigned a Case Manager. This Community Mental Health Counsellor provides flexible support, based on the individual client’s abilities and needs.

Clients are encouraged to establish daily routines for their lives. Assistance and support is given in the areas of personal care, household chores, and general maintenance tasks.

Independent Living Program services include:

• Lifestyle planning assistance
• Social and recreational activities
• Access to community resources

SHIP encourages clients to be involved in a productive and healthy lifestyle. Client goals of socialization, volunteerism, work, and schooling are explored and assisted.

Our staff contributes to client goals by providing support, education, and advocacy on behalf of our client population.
