Group Home

The Group Home Program is a long-standing SHIP initiative created to house and support individuals with mental illness. The mental and physical health benefits of safe housing are combined with a proven model of on-site residential support, including education and advocacy on behalf of each client.

Clients experience a sense of community inclusion, personal value, and self-worth. This is critical to their recovery process.

SHIP currently operates two group homes. Each location accommodates up to eight residents who receive individualized on-site staff support services. Length of stay is flexible according to each client’s needs. There is no maximum time limit.

Based on individual abilities, residents of the Group Home Program are encouraged to assume responsibilities in all areas of their daily living including:

1. Personal care
2. Household chores
3. General maintenance tasks
4. Planning daily activities

The Group Home Program is designed to approximate a community setting. Our staff support assists clients as they take positive steps toward productive and healthy lifestyles.
