Recovery Residences
Parsons Place in Brampton and Hammond House in Mississauga are home to SHIP clients who require additional support in order to work toward their goals of independent living. Individuals living in SHIP’s Recovery Residences are assisted and encouraged to:
- learn about their illness and develop coping strategies
- choose and participate in meaningful activities and increase their hope for the future through education and training
- be open to participate in chores and other daily activities
Basic life and social skills are developed in a co-operative environment that emphasizes a healthy and productive lifestyle. Individual and group in-house and community-based activities and educational opportunities promote:
- self-awareness that leads to self-acceptance
- recognition of personal potential
- better understanding of ways to successfully achieve independent living
- increased quality of life
