Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACTT)
SHIP has two Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACTT) that serve North Peel and North Mississauga respectively. Our teams help address the ongoing complex needs of individuals with a mental illness living in the community.
ACTT Teams are multi-disciplinary teams comprised of:
- Psychiatrists
- Psychiatric nurses
- Occupational therapists
- Social workers
- Peer support workers
- Addiction/Concurrent Disorder counsellors
- Vocational counsellors
- Mental health clinicians
These recovery-based teams provide community-based treatment, rehabilitation and support. Services are available 24 X 7, 365 days a year. The goals of SHIP’s Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACTT) are to empower individuals, reduce or eliminate the debilitating symptoms of mental illness, enhance quality of life and lessen family burden.
ACTT provides client assistance in:
- Daily living
- Employment and education
- Budgeting
- Integrated treatment for co-occurring substance usage
- Disease prevention, supportive counseling and health training
