SHIP is an advocate for the fundamental right of housing. We recognize that in order for recovery to take place – it is essential for individuals to feel a sense of community inclusion, personal value and self-worth. As a mental health agency, we are dedicated to ensuring that our community has the housing and mental health services essential for their mental and physical well-being.

Our determination to develop more opportunities for housing and mental health services has intensified. This is due to the increased demand for services and shortage of available housing, reflected in the ever-growing numbers on our wait lists.

SHIP’s priorities of Healthy Housing™, effective mental health services and quality assurance excellence (both in the delivery of housing and services and also in tenant satisfaction) are the three main focuses of this agency’s strategic direction for the next several years. We are determined to meet the needs of our tenant population to the absolute best of our ability.

SHIP advocates that living in safe, affordable housing promotes positive perceptions about an individual’s value as members of the community. Healthy Housing ™ increases client self-esteem and contributes toward independence and well-being – both in the home and in the community.
