Early Intervention

Early Intervention is a specialized treatment and support services program created specifically for clients experiencing a first episode in psychosis.

The goal of this SHIP program is to enhance the quality of life and the recovery of persons experiencing first psychosis, through the provision of early intervention intensive case management.

Key program components include:

  1. Facilitating access and early identification
  2. Comprehensive assessment and treatment
  3. Psychosocial supports, family supports, and education
  4. Supported, stable housing environments

Early Intervention provides timely assistance to clients, their families, and their significant others throughout the referral, transition, and recovery process. Clients are encouraged to actively re-engage in their educational, vocational, and social systems as they take positive steps toward pursuing their life goals.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis program is a co-operative partnership between SHIP, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, First Assessment Clinical Team (FACT), and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel Branch.
